I have demonstrated an inability to blog every day, or even to count the days. We’ll see how I do with the weeks. Today I feel like a real pilgrim as I am limping like many others. One of my small blisters is flourishing, and my baby toe hurts! I may need to give it a break. It is an example of a Camino phenomenon – blisters that have blisters – a complex structure of layers of skin and fluid-filled spaces. It’s rather like a soggy phyllo pastry.
Tonight I hobbled into Navarrette and decided I couldn’t make it past a little hotel where I have a private room with bath! Towels! Sheets!
The town is quite small so I soon found my family, who are staying in a couple of different albergues and we ate dinner together. We all agreed that today was tedious and tiring.
I’m tired just reading all of this….
But you will continue to read, just as I continue to walk!
Look after that toe. I hope the limping doesn’t last long.
I am currently hanging around Najara , wearing my backpack, trying to decide if I should move on to Azofra, only 6 km away. It is hard to resist that westward call.
I shall have to read the next instalment to find our what you decided.
