Here’s an ad from the intranet at work:
FOR SALE: CASELOT OF CHAPSTICK (200), 1987. SPECIAL EDITION “CYNDI LAUPER – GOONIES MOVIE THEME” ASKING $75
The punctuation suggests that the Chapstick is 24 years old. I wonder if it has a best-before date. It is an interesting combination – the Chapstick caselot plus Cyndi Lauper.
Here’s another one from the office:
TAXIDERMY COBRA, 5′ LONG, COILED IN STRIKING POSE. STANDS 17″ TALL. MINT CONDITION. $225.00
Better act fast – Those cobras don’t come on the market very often, particularly in mint condition!
Here are two that have been on my bulletin board for years – certainly long before I dreamed of having a blog where I could put them to good use. Look at the pinholes from the pushpins, and the discolouration. They both came from a neighbourhood newspaper.
I wonder if they got a good response. There must be someone tennis player out there who has given up pottery but has Jerusalem artichoke to spare.
I was quite pleased with myself for having the presence of mind to black-out the names and phone numbers before posting them here!
[By the way, if you saw this post a few months ago, I apologize. I wrote a draft that seems to have been published too.]
The chapstick from 1987 makes a lot of sense couple with Goonies because I always try and wear a vintage chapstick from the same year as the movie soundtrack I’m listening to.
Good point – I hadn’t thought of that. Feel free to take advantage of those other ads. Somehow I think you could do wonders with them. However, based on what I know about the world around us, there really is no shortage of material for your blog!
