This is a fairly short stage. We are already into the greater Seville area, so had to navigate the commuter transportation networks out of town.
At one point, we found ourselves wandering among some uncertain paths. But our first view of Sevilla made it clear that we couldn’t really go wrong.
With a population of about 700,000, Seville is the fourth largest city in Spain. Busy tourist season has begun – well, it really began with Easter, and will ease off a bit in the summer when it is very hot. We bought our tickets to tha Alcázar a while ago, so did that tour.
I wasn’t up to extensive tromping around the sites because I’ve developed shin splints on one leg. Hopefully my superduper anti-imflammatory ointment (from my podiatrist) and a sedentary day tomorrow will work some magic.
Evening tapas in Bar Baratillo, with a bullfighting theme. I continued to give selfie lessons to Laurie, but she is still under the delusion that selfie skills would make her look better in the photos. I tell her that technical skill has nothing to do with that, and cropping is the best solution.
Then feet up in a basic room at Hotel Simón. Can you tell a pilgrim lives here? We both reserved a couple of months ago, for €110 single rooms. Yesterday, the last rooms were almost €200, and today the hotel was full.
Love your reporting and the pictures. Peregrina life watching clothes dry is hysterical and so true. Ongoing Buen Camino on the Invierno. Hope you stay in Diomondi. Gracias, Clare.
