Serrana 10 – El Coronil to Utrera (20 km) + 15 km by train

We left at 7:00 am since Laurie had a long day ahead. Saw the moon go down, and the sun come up.

The track for the morning was a bit like walking across Saskatchewan, not that I’ve ever done that. A lot of wheat fields, some oat (maybe – my guess), sunflowers at various stages.

As we got closer to Seville, the Andalusian horse culture became evident.

Laurie did 40 km today, which I cannot even contemplate. I am saving myself for the Invierno, hoping to do it without motorized assist. (My feet are holding out pretty well, but one never knows.) Also, we wanted a short day into Seville to do some sightseeing, so I walked to Utera and got the commuter train two stops.

Not much accommodation was available when we looked yesterday, so we are in a cute but very tiny apartment.

It looks bigger than it is. There’s a liitle bedroom alcove too.

Made a trip to the grocery store for supplies for breakfast and lunch tomorrow. Then to a great pizza place for dinner since it was serving at 7:30 while most everything else was closed until 8 or 8:30. Now we’ll have extra for the road, too.

  1. Snail aestivation. They go up high objects to escape high soil temperatures

(although I can’t see a metal post in sun being cooler – but perhaps it is instinctual)

    • Thanks for the search! There was a whole line of fencing with snails at the top. I hadn’t seen it before. Maybe I didn’t see metal posts. If they climb up wooden posts, they probably survive to descend, and then I wouldn’t see the collection.
