It is hard to believe, but this blog post is up-to-date, for today! And we only have 4 more days of walking.
We had a late start because our first destination was the Roman ruins of Clunia, only 3.5 km away, and they didn’t open until 10 a.m.

We spent a couple of hours wandering the site and trying to imagine life here 2000 years ago.

After that, a nice hour long break at the Mesón Clunia.

Finally it was time for the main task of the day, a mere 7 km to Huerta de Rey. We took an unmarked route on farm roads, that Google maps and Organic Maps suggested. Laurie first checked with the people who would know best – the farmers.

In Huerta de Rey, a leisurely few hours over tapas, a trip to the grocery store, and now esconced in our own rooms at the Hostal Camino del Cid.

Everything is so dry… what a contrast with Tuscany. And yet so beautiful, but you can almost feel the heat in your photos.
Where do you end this walk?
It is dry, but we are lucky that the temperature hasn’t gone above about 25. Usually stays in low 20s.
That is a blessing!
