Today’s stage was to be 30 km. However, we had an 11 a.m. reservation for a tour at Noheda, 20 km from Cuenca. That meant walking about 5 hours BEFORE 11 a.m. I will leave the math to you, but suffice to say, I elected to get taxi assistance. The indomitable Laurie got up at 4:30 to walk it.

My walk from Chillarón de Cuenca was very nice, and I arrived just in time for the tour. The guide spoke VERY fast but I could understand at least half. This was the Roman Villa of Noheda being excavated – with some very impressive mosaics.

The rest of the walk was excellent. A couple of km along the highway, but mostly off road on dry dirt roads through parched barley and wheat fields.

We passed through the abandoned village of Villalbilla.

In Villar de Domingo García, we are staying in a comfortable 3-bedroom apartment in a town with one bar, a Massey Ferguson repair show, a government office related to the grain industry, and numerous posters decrying big agricultural interests contributing to depopulation of rural areas.

I’m still impressed Clare – with your achievement of 21k before 11am to make the tour.
Also sounds like your Spanish is good to comprehend 50% of fast talk !!
Where does Laurie get the stamina ??
Buen camino peregrinas.
No! I did NOT do the 21 km before 11 a.m. I took a taxi for the first 8!
Just shows you what my math is like these days Clare🤪😂😂. I misunderstood actually, thinking the 30k was the destination and taxi for 9k.
Now have it right! I’d still choose your way. Getting up at 4.30am wouldn’t be easy.
