Underground New York Public Library blog

I am not usually very interested in photo blogs, even though I respect the art, admire many photos and enjoy my own snapshots. Let’s face it – there are millions of great photos to look at. Today 101 Books has a link to a very clever blog  Underground New York Public Library blog. Go have a look at it.

It is a little like the “fashion” blog Culture Serf that is really about people, and gives pleasure with no demands.

Today on the bus and SkyTrain I looked around at people reading, but didn’t have the nerve or opportunity to get a really good shot. It is also a real challenge to identify the book they are reading.

This family had probably just been to the bookstore as each of the 3 children was examining a book and reading. The father was taking a photograph – maybe he is starting an Underground Vancouver Public Library blog. I managed to snap a surreptitious picture with my phone.

Here’s a book I was able to identify as I stood over this guy’s shoulder – The Hobbit, which I have never read since I have always tended to avoid fantasy.

The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkein
