Mexico City

Mexico City is an “alpha global city”, according to Wikipedia. Nine million people in the city proper, 21 million in the metropolitan area. It is huge and teeming with traffic. The traffic was slow but surprisingly organized and without honking mayhem. Those millions of people are moving about the city, using modern public transport, shopping,…

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Most of our travel arrangements for Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, had been made in advance with Caroline of Lucky Bean Travel, who did a superb job. Once there, we added on a day trip to Botswana for wildlife viewing. Only 3 days in total was just enough to give us a taste of what a longer African…

Johannesburg, South Africa

It was quite exciting to see the Rock of Gibraltar appear, and it was interesting to glimpse the massive port facilities. Tarifa has two main…

Stage 5 of the Great Malaga Path

Some walking was in order for a change – Stage 5 of the Gran Senda de Malaga, about 15 km from Cuevas de Nerja to Frigiliana. It was perfect weather, being generally cloudy with a few sun breaks to keep things cheerful, and not too warm. MB had just this morning figured out how to…

Nerja, unplanned

One of those mundane tasks was finding the Museo where the Cuevatren stopped. Google maps and GPS seemed to have trouble with the narrow winding streets. We found the…
