Invierno 7 – A Pobra do Brollón to Monforte de Lemos (13 km)

The idea was to have a short day into Monforte, so we could do sightseeing in the town. The walk was pastoral and pleasant.

Laurie had some errands to do and I had to figure out my travel plans. She was in a fancy hotel while I was at the Santa Clara, which was entirely satisfactory except I couldn’t check in until 3:30. I wandered aimlessly for awhile, and we met to eat. Nothing worth posting pictures.

After that I spent a few hours rearranging my next few days. The limiting factor was getting a train to Madrid. I was hoping to get to Santiago for a few days, but no trains were available from there, for several more days. So I booked a train from Monforte to Ourense to Madrid, for tomorrow. Then I changed my flight, hunted down something not too exhorbitantly priced for 3 nights in Madrid, and cancelled my hotel in Santiago. I figure I almost broke even by coming home early.

  1. Aww, I’m sorry you have to end your Camino early. Some times it just isn’t meant to be though.

I liked the Invierno (above all the solitude), but it wasn’t a memorable Camino if that makes sense.

    Buen viaje home.

  2. Enjoyed all your posts and photos once again but sorry you are not enjoying this year’s walk as much as you did in the past.

  3. it’s been good to read your perspective of this camino Clare. I’m glad it was affordable to change your flights home. Take care

  4. Glad you did not lose money! When walking is not fun, it is not fun! I hope you have a good few days in Madrid.
