Today was a day of reckoning. I have not been enjoying the walking very much in the last few days, which rather defeats the purpose. I think I am coming down with a cold (my first in 4 years), and find myself out of breath on minor hills. I feel chilled. My shin splints are much improved but my right foot continually reminds me that it has walked 400 km in the past month (which I wasn’t entirely confident of, on starting). Maybe 400 km is enough for me nowadays.
The local bus services tend to be only twice daily in each direction, once at 7 a.m. and once around 5:30. So, I decided to take a taxi to A Pobra where Laurie was going, and tomorrow walk the 12 km with her to Monforte de Lemos. From there, I will look at options for going home a week early. (I have no lack of things to do at home!)
I slept “late”, had a leisurely breakfast and got a taxi to A Pobra. Then I walked backwards along the Camino for a few km to meet Laurie coming into town.

We stayed at the newly reopened Pensión As Vin̈as. The owners also run the nearby albergue, so we did a little tour of it. It is very well outfitted with everything a pilgrim would need. Apparently, even restaurant meals can be ordered in, if you don’t want to walk 1 km each way.

We ate at the La Vieja Taberna, which was pleasantly warm and had good food.

Ahoj Clare. Je neuvěřitelné co se ti povedlo.
Neváhej, pokud se necítíš na další chůzi, ukončit trasu.
Myslím na tebe celou dobu tvého putování.

Good plan – come home!
