First day with a pack and I feel it in my hips and legs. And feet. Since each of us walked to San Roque yesterday, we got a taxi to there and started walking about 8 a.m. The weather was perfect, and we were soon into the countryside, although there was some single file road walking, too.
It felt longer than 20 km, as there were some rough and rutted tracks.

Main highlight today was that we had to choose in advance between possibly wading a river, and taking a dubious suspension bridge. We choose the latter. Getting off the structure was the hardest part, as the handrails were not exactly ergonomically approved. Backpacks don’t help your balance when legs are wobbly from the crossing. We had to do the top steps on our bums.

We are in the Hostal Ochomín – €30 private rooms, somewhat shabby but it has what we need. The restaurant next door is doing brisk Sunday business. As usual, the staff/owners are running around like crazy. We are here, showered, with nothing else to do, so we are not in a hurry. However, PLEASE open our wine!
The owner has taken our order. We are not sure what we are getting but it involves fish like sea bass, various vegetables. Even avocados. The price will be either €20 for one, or for two. That was not clear, but it will be OK either way.

The bill was about €50 for 2 of us, including salad, main course, and a bottle of good rioja, and an ice cream for me. We also have restaurant recommendations for the next 3 towns.

You should see the prices
He told us, and we didn’t bother to clarify, since it was fine anyway!
Ludmila 🙏
Following you with glee. Good weather too! As last year on the Lana, following you six weeks later (and dry!), I shall be off on the Sagunto in due course. Big Hola! To Laurie from Philip/Filly

Great start to your Camino! Beautiful weather and photos, thanks for sharing! I would still be on the other side of that bridge scarred….🤣👣👣👣
You would have chosen to go the other route and wade across.

I’m glad that that gate was open and no climbing over/under was required! Buen Camino!! Alipilgrim
