[I just discovered that I had prepared these drafts but must have been waiting for inspiration before posting. It is time to get them done, so I can plan my next Camino.] Back to October…
Today was a great day of walking, with varied scenery and many ripe figs. Even some apple trees by the train tracks. As we approached Pancorbo, the wind was very strong. I understand that wind is normal here. In Pancorbo we followed the suggestion from a local, and walked up the path and stairs to a lookout point with excellent views of the town and its setting in the mountains. Our accommodation was the Hostal Pancorbo – basically a truck stop with a nearby store and gas station. We passed a Casa Rural which looked much quainter, but we were happy in the Hostal. Dinner was classic Spanish truck stop menu; breakfast was good. The store had everything we needed for the next day.
