Vasco 3. Beasain to Zegama (17 km)

Yay! Our first day of only walking, even if it was only 17 km. Very pleasant – rain threatened early but did not materialize. Most of the walk was on country paths or along the river. In Zegama we are esconced at the Pensión, feeling satisfied after menús del día, and thinking about an early evening stroll through town.

The internet tracking system gives us reason to be optimistic about delivery of A’s backpack. Of course the bad news is that she’ll have to carry it tomorrow – expected to be the hardest day, starting with 835 m rise over 8 km, and total of 22 km for the day. The worse news is that will get harder to organize delivery if it doesn’t get here tonight.

Today’s on-the-ground count was two…

She obviously needs to train more!
The cows really did not care.
