Hostal Extremadura in Monesterios is not on my recomended list. Freezing cold and no charm, but the price was right. On leaving Monesterios, go left around the far side of the stadium. I didn’t, and walked a km or 2 before checking my GPS track. On returning, from the WRONG direction, there is a very clear sign for wayward walkers like me. Basically it says “Nya nya, you should have gone that way!”

The correct path is a lot more obvious that the alternative I chose!
The walk was very nice although it took a long time to warm up from the night.
In Fuente de Cantos I am at the very comfortable Albergue/Apartamientos Zaguan, sharing with the Belgian woman who was in my Day 1 group. Some of the others have moved on at a faster pace. Excellent dinner at Restaurant El Gato.

I think it was closed for a few years, but then reopened. Apparently the reopening didn’t come with any refurbishing. Enjoying your pictures and the blog immensely, buen camino, Laurie
It is hard to complain, though, when you get a bed and bathroom for €15!
I think I stayed in the same Hostal… possibly even the same room? Unless they all look the same 😀 I loved this walk out of town, the start of the day reminded me a little of walking on Dartmoor. You seem in good spirits, how is the cold? I hope it’s gone! Buen Camino!
My cold is pretty much gone now – it was a mild protest from my body to get some sleep!
Enjoying your blog, so please keep it up. I was hoping to be in your footsteps, leaving Sevilla for Santiago just after Semana Santa, but family constraints stopped me. Now I’m hoping for next year, when that event will be two weeks earlier. I was worried about long days and am happy to see yours are not particularly daunting: aside from day 1 (where a taxi could have shortened it) your longest has been only 13 miles.
Possible worse than the total daily distance issue, is that places to rest are few and far between, especially in rainy weather. However, so far it is manageable.
