We flew back to Guayaquil from the Galapagos. It was a great trip – watching blue-footed boobies dance, magnificent frigatebirds, swimming with young sea lions, eating excellent food on the boat.

We took lots of photos, and the underwater camera has worked well.

One evening on the boat, one of the young people had his Ipod music playing while we sat on the deck in the evening. Turned out he had a lot of Beatles music. Abbey Road was playing and I realized that when that album came out, I was 21 years old – the same as N now. Here I was, 40 years later (VERY hard to fathom), sitting on a boat in the Galapagos with my 21-year-old daughter and a bunch of (other) backpackers listening to the same music. It was very satisfying to realize that I could still travel that way.
