Whoops! I’m getting behind here with inconstant WiFi, the need to conserve battery usage, and the need to conserve my own energy!
Today’s walk started with a steep hill UP in a driving rain. New Yorker J described it as sheer hell, but he’s a writer and exaggerates. Here he looks perfectly happy, having reached the top where there was some shelter.
The UP part was followed by a DOWN part, which fortunately was a wide concrete path. I demonstrated slalom techniques which were surprisingly useful on the 18% descent. The rest of the day was grey but fairly flat.
Arrived at the very cosy albergue En El Camino where Eduardo is the amiable host. A whole crowd of current acquaintances was in attendance for dinner and the night in a rustic but charming dorm. (Really!)
Wonderful to be following you Clare. I relive the Frances thru your writing and pictures.
I actually thought about you today while my legs were complaining in a general way. I was so glad that I didn’t have you knee problems. You would have appreciated the slalom coming down that hill!
I hope Eduardo and his family were well 🙂 I love his place!
