Today we stayed “at home” in Ponferrada. There was a church hall where a number of procession floats were on display. The perfume of thousands of flowers filled the air.
Next, a visit to the Museo del Bierzo in the site of a former jail.
A tour of the Templar Castle.
Three hours sitting on a patio eating lunch and watching passersby.
In the evening, another procession depicted the Last Supper.
Clare, Happy Easter to you and MB. What a wonderful place to be in to experience the Easter celebrations. If you plan on stopping in Villafranca del Bierzo, there’s a wonderful albergue: Albergue de la Piedra, 32 Espiritu Santo. A nice young couple are the owners. They have a huge gentle dog, Conan, and a grey cat that make you feel right at home.
Buen camino! Helene
Hi! I stayed at that Albergue once before and agree it was nice. We have an apartment across the street. We arrived in Villafranca quite late and double rooms (which we are usually seeking) are scarce this weekend.
